Have Questions? We Have Answers!

There are several types of livestock fencing including barbed wire, electric, woven wire, and wooden fences. The best choice depends on the type of livestock you have. For instance, barbed wire and electric fences are suitable for cattle and large animals, as they provide strong containment. Woven wire fences are ideal for smaller livestock such as sheep and goats, offering tight security that prevents escape. Wooden fences are popular for horses due to their aesthetic appeal and safety.

To ensure your livestock fencing is secure, choose the appropriate material and height based on the livestock you’re containing. Ensure that the installation is done correctly, with posts deeply set into the ground and sufficient tension in wires. Regularly inspect the fence for damage or wear, and make immediate repairs to any sections that are compromised.

The need to replace livestock fencing depends on the type of material used and the conditions it is exposed to. Generally, a well-maintained fence can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. Regular inspections and timely repairs can extend the life of your fence. Factors that may necessitate replacement sooner include severe weather damage, frequent animal pressure, and corrosion in metal fences. To maximize the lifespan of your fencing, address any issues as soon as they arise and consider using high-quality materials during the initial installation.

The cost of livestock fencing can vary widely depending on the type of fencing, materials used, length of the fence, and terrain of the installation site. Basic wire fencing can start at a few dollars per foot, while more durable and visually appealing options like wooden rail fencing can be more expensive. Factors influencing cost include the price of materials, labor for installation, and any additional features such as gates or electrification components. Always get multiple quotes to ensure competitive pricing for your fencing project.
